Infrastructure

At present, there are 21 AYUSH Doctors posting in the State of Mizoram of which 1 (one) is on regular employment and is presently engaged as Deputy Director (AYUSH). 10 (ten) AYUSH Doctors are engaged under NRHM Flexi pool (Mainstreaming of AYUSH) and the remaining 10 (ten) AYUSH Doctors are contractually engaged under the State Government in the year 2008. Of these 20 AYUSH Doctors, 19 are of Homoeopathic disciplines and the remaining 2 are of Ayurvedic disciplines. Hence, to address and achieve the mainstreaming of AYUSH in Mizoram and as per the IPHS Guidelines, immediate action may be initiated and more AYUSH doctors are proposed to be recruited contractually under National Rural Health Mission Flexi pool during 2011-2012. Also, proposal for recruitment of man power like Pharmacist, Multipurpose Worker and Supporting Staff to be utilized at collocated AYUSH Hospitals & Dispensaries are included in the NRHM Flexi pool for the year 2011-2012. Recently, the Government of Mizoram decided to appoint 10 nos. of Medical Officer (AYUSH) on regular.

List of AYUSH Doctors engaged under the state Govt. from 2008 till date:

In the year 2009, 4 nos. of Scientific Officer and 2 nos. of Analyst/Lab. Tech are re-engaged on contractual basis to the State Drug Testing Laboratory at Zemabawk, Aizawl till date.

In the year 2010, Programme Management Unit has been set up in the state and accommodates at AYUSH Office, Directorate of health Services by appointing full staffing pattern till date. They are equipped with existing furniture and materials.

At the very beginning, the state government has taken special interest on AYUSH and AYUSH OPD/Clinic has been constructed at 7 Districts in the year 2005-2006. In the year 2010, 10 bedded ward AYUSH Hospitals (IPD) has been constructed at 7 Districts and AYUSH OPD and Dispensary at Civil Hospital, Aizawl and AYUSH OPD at 2 CHCs. AYUSH OPD units at Saitual and Thenzawl CHC were also added in the year 2008 and 2010. Recently, AYUSH OPD/IPD has been proposed to be co-located at Vairengte CHC and AYUSH OPD at 5 (five) PHCs, namely- Suangpuilawn, Khawzawl, Tawipui South, Thingsulthliah and East Lungdar and support required for these newly proposed to be collocated AYUSH OPD/IPD is submitted to the Govt. of India under the scheme of Hospitals & Dispensaries.

1. AYUSH OPD/Clinic at Civil Hospital, Aizawl:

During 2004-2005, Govt. of India had released grant-in-aid amounting to Rs.350.00 lakhs for strengthening of ISM&H under which construction of Out Patient Department Building was included. The OPD building has also been constructed within Civil Hospital compound of each District and being utilized for the purpose it was sanctioned. The under pictures is AYUSH OPD/Clinic constructed at Civil Hospital Aizawl compound and fully accommodated in the year 2010.

2. 10 Bedded-ward AYUSH Hospital at Lunglei.

3. 10 Bedded-ward AYUSH Hospital at Champhai.

4. 10 Bedded-ward AYUSH Hospital at Kolasib.

5. 10 Bedded-ward AYUSH Hospital at Serchhip.

6. 10 Bedded-ward AYUSH Hospital at Lawngtlai.

7. 10 Bedded-ward AYUSH Hospital at Mamit.

State Drug Testing Laboratory

The State of Mizoram has established a State Drug Testing Laboratory for Quality Control of ASU&H Drugs in the year 2006. Appointment of Full component of staff, provided as per the scheme of the Department of AYUSH, Government of India has been done on September, 2009. DTL is now partially functional with the staff and proposal for financial assistance has already been sent to Government of India to make the laboratory fully functional.
