In the category of IEC, this Department has 2(two) activities namely- Sponsorship of LPS Pro-Fight Tournament and Organisation of AROGYA Mela:

Sponsorship of LPS Pro-Fight Tournament:-

As per Gov’t of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of AYUSH’s sanction letter No.U-12019/23/2010-I.E.C. of 17.8.2011, AYUSH LPS Pro-Fight Tournament was successfully sponsored by this department from 12th October to 26th November, 2010.

As AYUSH Department being the Main Sponsor, Dr.C.Lallunghnema, Programme Executive (AYUSH) always witnessed the Tournament with another 3 (three) numbers of AYUSH Medical Officer and he himself acted as Medical Commissioner of the Tournament. AYUSH Propagation and Publication has always arranged at a convenient periodical interval @10 (ten) times approximately through display and 20 (twenty) times approximately by oral announcement per day during the tournament.

AYUSH stall/exhibition was placed at one corner of the Arena for those who attended the tournament inside and outside the Arena and the attendance has extended their warm appreciation. However, since there is no qualified Yoga Practitioner in Mizoram, Yoga Demonstration count not be done and was omitted during the tournament.

Organisation of AROGYA Mela:

During 2010-2011, AYUSH Department, Government of Mizoram has successfully organized Comprehensive Health Mela “AROGYA” at City Centre, Millennium Roof Top from 9th – 12th May 2011. The utilization period was delayed due to late receive of fund for the purpose.

In this occasion, His Excellency the Governor of Mizoram Lt.Gen.(Rtd) MM Lakhera PVSM, AVSM, VSM graced the function as Chief Guest and inaugurated the fair. The AROGYA Mela consisted of Exhibition cum awareness towards sensitization of the local people of Mizoram to take the benefit from the traditional Indian System of healing and display cum awareness of various kinds of products by renowned Indian Autonomous body like – Central Council for research in Homoeopathy, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, Central Council for research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy, Government Ayurvedic College of Guwahati, AYUSH Resource Centre of North East and Ulysses Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd, Kolkata.

During the Mela, all unit conducts exhibition, awareness, lecture and other free lessons like Yoga demonstration and the aspects of the Indian tradition for healing of body, mind and spirit. A large number of respective programmes / schemes from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Mizoram like NRHM, State Medicinal Plants Board, State Vector Borne Diseases, etc and other departments like Tourism, Horticulture, etc. have shown keen interest and displayed and engaged one stall each at the side of the stall for the entire four days.

Commonly, the Comprehensive AROGYA Mela was attended by a major portion of the people of Mizoram and students from Primary school to Degree level. The holder of each stall/exhibition taught and lessens the visitors their core nature, benefits, prosperities and even touch for healing. The existing 20 nos. of AYUSH Doctors from the state of Mizoram and other units like Unani, Ayurvedic Sciences and Homoeopathy from the Govt. of India, Dr. Pranab Banerjee and his team from Kolkata and the neighbouring states successfully organized Free Health Check-up/Clinic during all the respective four days and at least 2100 patients across the state were registered for checked-up and clinic. In spite of a limited period, the fair was visited by an approximate number of 100,000 people of Mizoram.
